The activity focused on the negotiation of term sheets for the Sago Pith Rasping Device, one of CSU’s developed technologies now ready for commercialization. This milestone led to the successful signing of the Technology Licensing Agreement (TLA) during the recently concluded Mindanao Technology Transfer Conference 2025, held on Day 2 of the 3rd LIKHA Summit 2025 last October 1.
During the discussion, Mr. Karrel Sanico, Operations Manager of SANICO Fabrication and Machineries, expressed his enthusiasm to engage in technology licensing—his first under CSU’s innovation ecosystem.
RAISE Program Leader and TTLO Director Prof. Kenneth L. Ciudad affirmed the value of intellectual property protection, fair licensing, and the potential international marketability of the Sago Pith Rasping Device. He also highlighted how IP-backed technologies empower local fabricators to expand their reach and strengthen their credibility.
The negotiation concluded positively, with both parties aligning on terms related to royalty sharing, reporting mechanisms, and long-term commercialization plans—paving the way for a formal five-year Technology Licensing Agreement.
This partnership showcases CSU’s continued commitment to bridging innovation and industry, empowering local fabricators, and advancing technology transfer initiatives under the RAISE Program.
