The Caraga RAISE (Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement) Program took a significant step forward as teams from Caraga State University (CSU), Northeastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU), and Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) convened at the Space Bar Beach Resort, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur, April 10-12, 2024 for a three-day local inception meeting, intellectual property audit, technology inventory workshop, and year one operational planning session.
Prof. Kenneth Ciudad, the RAISE program leader from CSU, commenced the activity by welcoming the participants and highlighting the goals and objectives of the program.
Mr. Melbert Bonotan, Project 3 leader from CSU, provided a comprehensive rationale for the activity, setting the stage for Ms. Meycel Amarille, Project 4 leader from CSU, to delve into the Department of Science and Technology - Grants-In-Aid (DOST-GIA) Guidelines, ensuring alignment with national standards.
Then, Eng. Luzminda Bacquial, Project 1B leader from NEMSU, underscored the importance of accounting rules for transparency and accountability in financial matters within the RAISE program.
Following this, Mr. Genesis Jared Cutamora, Project 2 Leader from CSU, facilitated a workshop on regional activities and schedule plotting, guiding participants in mapping out strategies for implementation. Project teams then presented their outputs, receiving valuable feedback from their peers.
The first day was concluded with an inspirational message from CSU President Rolyn Daguil, urging participants to embrace community-driven innovation and entrepreneurship.
The activity continued on the second day, which commenced with messages from the three SUC’s admin representatives. Dr. Jeffrey Dellosa, CSU's VP for Research, Extension, and Innovation, emphasized the significant economic impact of the RAISE program across the entire region and highlighted the pivotal role of collaboration in achieving its goals. Dr. Rolly Salvaleon, NEMSU’s VP for Research and Extension, reiterated the university's full support for the program. And Engr. Michael Sabugaa, ASSCAT’s Director for Research and Creative Works, expressed gratitude for the partnership.
A highlight of the second day was the Regional Technology and Intellectual Property (IP) Inventory Workshop, where participants conducted a comprehensive assessment of technological assets and intellectual property within the region. Then, the technical project assistants presented the accomplishment report from each project. The day also saw the unveiling of the RAISE program logo, marking a milestone in its branding.
Despite the packed agenda, participants found time for fellowship, coming together for a night of camaraderie and celebration, further solidifying the bonds within the RAISE program community.
