Delegates from the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in Caraga showcased their dedication to advancing technology commercialization as they participated in the final module and graduation ceremony of the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) Technology Commercialization Mentorship Series (TCMS). The event was held on April 17, 2024, at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan, Cotabato.
The TCMS, now on its sixth year, aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in technology transfer, intellectual property management, and commercialization strategies. The comprehensive program spans several modules, concluding with a face-to-face session and graduation at USM.
Representing the RAISE Program in Caraga were:
Project 1A IPTBM (NEMSU): Engr. Luzminda S. Bacquial and Mr. Virgilio T. Ombao Jr.
Project 1B IPTBM (ASSCAT): Dr. Rodel L. Oclaret and Engr. Cyruz Jay Galendez.
Project 1 Regional IPTBM (Caraga State University): Ms. Charisse D. Galusan and Ms. Angelica L. Labiano.
Project 3 Regional ATBI (Caraga State University): Prof. Melbert R. Bonotan and Mr. Elpedio M. Corbeta Jr.
During the graduation ceremony, delegates presented outputs developed through the mentorship, reflecting their commitment to harnessing innovation to address pressing agricultural and aquaculture challenges. These outputs included commercialization strategies, intellectual property valuation, and business plans tailored to the region’s unique needs.
The RAISE Program continues to underscore Caraga's proactive approach to promote innovation and sustainable development. By participating in the TCMS, the team has strengthened its capability to transfer technologies from the laboratory to the field, benefiting local farmers, fisherfolk, and agripreneurs.
The program, supported by the Agri-Aqua Business Incubation Network of the Philippines Inc. and DOST-PCAARRD, serves as a testament to the power of collaboration in driving technological advancements and economic growth in the agri-aqua sector.
